Keep every item genuinely free
- Never request money, a deposit, a tip, a mandatory donation, a trade, or a favor in return for an item.
- Do not disguise a sale as a giveaway or redirect members to a paid listing.
- If a claimant uses a courier, it must be a legitimate third party they choose; a giver may not use courier fees to collect payment.
Describe items honestly
- Use current photos of the actual item and disclose material damage, missing parts, repair needs, hygiene concerns, recalls, and safety issues.
- List only an item you own or are authorized to give away, in the correct category, once.
- Do not manipulate discovery, ratings, claims, location, or subscription status.
Respect commitments
- Claim only when you intend to collect and release a reservation promptly if plans change.
- Reply within a reasonable time, agree on a realistic window, and do not mark a handoff complete before the item changes hands.
- Do not pressure a giver to hold an item outside Dibs or pressure a claimant to accept an unsafe item.
Treat people with respect
- No threats, harassment, hate, sexual advances, intimidation, stalking, discrimination, or humiliating content.
- No spam, scams, impersonation, review manipulation, or repeated unwanted contact.
- Do not share another person’s address, phone number, messages, photos, or identity information without permission.
Put safety before a handoff
- Follow the Prohibited Items Policy and applicable laws.
- Prefer a public, well-lit meeting place; tell someone where you are going; and bring another adult when appropriate.
- Use in-app messaging and keep exact pickup details limited to the confirmed participant.
- End the interaction if something feels unsafe. A reservation is never more important than personal safety.
Reports and consequences
Use Dibs reporting and blocking tools for suspected rule violations. Depending on available evidence and risk, Dibs may remove content, limit claims or messaging, issue a warning, suspend an account, or permanently remove access. Serious or unlawful conduct may be reported to appropriate authorities.
A report is not a guarantee of a particular action or response time. Do not file false, retaliatory, or abusive reports.
