1. Who we are
Dibs is a community marketplace for giving away and claiming items. Dibs is operated by RP Innotech, Inc. in the Philippines. In this policy, “Dibs,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to RP Innotech, Inc. when it operates Dibs.
Questions and privacy requests may be sent to hello@rpinnotech.com.
2. Information we collect
The information we process depends on how you use Dibs and which optional features you enable.
- Account and identity information: user ID, display name, profile image, email address, verified phone number if phone authentication is enabled, and identifiers received from Apple or another sign-in provider. A verification marker means only that the stated account or contact method passed the indicated ownership check; it is not a background check or guarantee of identity.
- Marketplace content: listing titles, descriptions, categories, condition, photos, pickup options, claim requests, reservations, waitlists, handoff confirmations, ratings, saved items, blocks, and reports.
- Communications and safety information: messages between participants, notification records, report details, evidence references, moderation decisions, appeals, and support correspondence. We do not routinely use private message content for advertising.
- Location information: a selected area and approximate coordinates used for discovery. Precise pickup details may be stored when you deliberately provide them for a handoff and are disclosed only to participants authorized for that reservation stage. Do not place your exact address in a public listing or photo.
- Device and technical information: app version, build and update identifiers, operating system, push token, installation identifier, network status, timestamps, security events, diagnostics, crash data, and limited performance information.
- Subscription information: product, entitlement status, effective and expiry dates, transaction references, and refund or revocation events. Apple processes payment-card and App Store billing credentials; Dibs does not receive your full payment-card number.
- Usage information: privacy-limited events such as onboarding completion, listing creation, claim attempts, handoff completion, paywall views, notification opens, and error outcomes. Analytics must not include message bodies, precise pickup addresses, OTPs, access tokens, or payment secrets.
3. How we use information
- Provide, secure, and personalize the marketplace, including nearby discovery, search, claims, reservations, chat, handoffs, ratings, and account recovery.
- Confirm subscription entitlements and reconcile purchases, restorations, renewals, expirations, refunds, and revocations.
- Send service notifications you request or that are necessary for a marketplace transaction, and send marketing notifications only under a separate preference where required.
- Prevent fraud, enforce marketplace rules, investigate reports, protect members, debug failures, and maintain audit records.
- Measure reliability and product use in an aggregated or minimized form and improve accessibility and performance.
- Meet legal obligations, respond to valid legal process, and establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.
4. Location privacy
Dibs is designed to use approximate location for browsing and ranking. Public marketplace views should show only an approximate area, not an exact home address. If you choose a precise pickup location, it is private marketplace information and becomes available only to an authorized counterparty at the appropriate reservation stage.
Location permissions are optional. You can deny device location access and select an area manually. Changing a device permission does not automatically remove a pickup address that you previously entered; edit the listing or request account deletion when you want stored data removed.
We do not intentionally use GPS coordinates embedded in uploaded photos for discovery. You remain responsible for checking photos for visible house numbers, documents, faces, or other private details before posting.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes above. The period depends on whether your account is active, a handoff or dispute remains open, the record is needed for safety or fraud prevention, a subscription record must be reconciled, or law requires retention.
After account deletion, we remove authentication access, personal profile fields, push tokens, unnecessary private location data, and private storage that is no longer required. Some completed marketplace, rating, report, payment-event, security, and audit records may remain in anonymized or restricted form so that the community record remains coherent and we can prevent fraud, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
7. Your choices and rights
- Review and update profile, location, notification, and display preferences in the app.
- Withdraw optional location or notification permission in iOS Settings. Transactional in-app notices may still appear when needed to operate a claim or handoff.
- Request access, correction, objection, restriction, portability where applicable, or deletion by using in-app controls or contacting us.
- Delete your account from the app. If an active handoff makes immediate deletion unsafe, Dibs will explain the step that must be completed or safely cancelled first.
- Contact the National Privacy Commission of the Philippines if you believe a privacy concern was not resolved, without limiting any other rights available to you.
8. Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information, including access controls and server-side authorization. No internet service is completely secure. Keep your device and sign-in method protected, use in-app messaging, and report suspected account misuse promptly.
9. International processing
Dibs and its service providers may process information in the Philippines, Singapore, the United States, and other locations where providers operate. When information crosses borders, we use contractual and technical safeguards appropriate to the data and applicable law.
10. Children
Dibs is for adults aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly allow children to create accounts or arrange in-person handoffs. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information.
11. Policy changes
We may update this policy when our practices or legal obligations change. The effective date and version appear at the top. We will provide additional notice in the app when a material change requires attention or renewed consent.
